Jacote

Wild Jacotes are mentioned as "the nastiest scavengers this side of the Belt" in a desert region on Novo Tressida in 3064, suggesting it to be a local species. The general area was noted to be "spotted with not-so-friendly creatures". They have a pair of red eyes, and are described as smelly, with a putrid stench of rotting flesh.

Although the throw of a stone drove them away for the time being, they would come back and it is implied that they pose a danger to humans.
