Liao Lancers

History

The Liao Lancers Brigade was raised by the Capellan Confederation Armed Forces as a replacement for the Sarna Sabres brigade. The Sabres were one of the most savage units to participate in the Age of War, with verified reports of members of the Sabers mutilating prisoners, decimating conquered but rebellious populations, and using civilian captives as human shields chained to BattleMechs. Kalvin Liao named the Sarna Sabres as his favorite unit, but Salicia Liao said she would have killed them all if they hadn't died in combat.

The last Sabres unit was destroyed in an assault on Andurien in 2529. In the wake of this suicidal assault, the Strategios replaced the undisciplined and embarrassing Sarna Commonality unit with the Liao Lancers. The Lancers were built from worlds across the Capellan Confederation, but each unit drew approximately a third of its forces from their Sarna Commonality homeworld's population.
