Description[edit]

The upgraded version of the Lola Block I, the Lola II-class destroyer was introduced in 2622 to replace the aging Lola I. The design was built by Blue Nose Clipperships on license from Boeing Interstellar and replaces some of the anti-aerospace weaponry with naval missile systems.[1]

However, the upgrade does nothing to relieve cramped crew conditions, continuing the "sardine can" aesthetic of the Block I Lolas. Rushed design to production time overlooked numerous design flaws, and though the ship features large fuel capacity, faults in the new fuel lines helped scrap this destroyer class in less than 50 years of service.[1]

Though the Lola IIs were ordered decommissioned and scrapped in 2660, at least four Lola IIs surfaced within the fleets of Taurian Concordat rebels in the Second Periphery Uprising shortly before the Amaris Civil War, leading many to wonder what really happened to the decommissioned vessels.[1]

Lola II hulls would also serve as the basis for the M-5 "Caspar" Capital Drone first introduced in 2710, indicating quite a few hulls were never scrapped.[3]

Armament[edit]

Like the Lola I, the Lola II's weaponry focuses on naval autocannons and naval lasers. However, all of the large lasers mounted as point defense deterrents for smaller craft were replaced with more naval autocannons, and one-half dozen Barracuda naval missile systems.

Cargo[edit]

Virtually no changes were made in the cargo capacity of the Lola Block II. The class has three bays, used to ferry 1 squadron of aerospace fighters, 2 small craft, and approximately 115,000 tons of cargo.
