Louis Santonio was the commanding officer of the Thirty-eighth Avalon Hussars as of 2787.[1]

Leftenant General Santonio, commanding the Thirty-eighth Avalon Hussars, was stationed on Cussar when the Draconis Combine launched a massive offensive against the Federated Suns in mid-2787. While Santonio's troops held out valiantly against overwhelming odds for two weeks, word of Combine victories and atrocities across the entire border region began to erode his and his officers' morale. When Field Marshal Grover Simons - leader of the Clovis Combat Region- was killed and Clovis itself occupied, Santonio finally gave the order for the Thirty-eighth Hussars to retreat from Cussar. Colonel Michael Barlow, one of Santonio's battalion commanders, tried to sway him to continue the world's defense but was unsuccessful and stayed behind as the rest of the Thirty-eighth Hussars left the world for the Combine to conquer.[1]
While Santonio's fate is not recorded, the Thirty-eighth Avalon Hussars were destroyed at some point during the First Succession War.[2]
