History[edit]

Morrison's Madmen[edit]

Morrison's Madmen were a mercenary unit that took a contract for the Free Worlds League in 3000, just after enrolling in the unit ex–FWLM Captain William Langston to chase the mercenary turned pirates Drake's Dragons.

They were able to find the pirates and kill several of their core members, though the rest of the band fled.[1]

Major Kevin Morrison was severely injured in a combat drop in 3007[1]. As her daughter, Rita Morrison was too inexperienced to assume command of the Madmen at the time, command was passed to William Langston, who renamed the unit to Langston's Lancers[2], with Kevin's blessing.[1]

Langston's Lancers[edit]

In 3011 Drake's Dragons were back attacking FWL Periphery planets, and they send one of their gangs, the Cobra ones under command from Aeneas "Ripper" Papaspaneas to raid Payvand.[3] Aeneas Gang ransacked a town and robbed several transports full of gold in the process killing more than one hundred civilians[4] after crushing the Payvand's Militia and engaging Langston's Lancers, who were nearby.[3]

The pirates had loaded the gold from the trucks into their Maxim Heavy Hover Transports and fled to their hidden DropShip. Langston's Lancers scouts were able to trace they movements and the unit ambushed them at Colman Pass, where they crushed the pirates and only one BattleMech and one hovercraft were able to temporarily escape, as after a ten hour hunt they were found out. The Cobra's DropShip was destroyed by Langston's Lancers aerospace command, the Black Sheep.[5]

From this point on, the Lancers and Dragons were locked in a vendetta that would only end one way.[5]
