In 3025, pirates disguised as a Davion scouting party raided Cyrton from the nearby system of Montour, hoping to coax the Taurians into war with the Federated Suns in attempt to make Taurian worlds easier targets for plunder. The Taurian Defense Force tracked them to Pirates Haven, where Marshal Morton Grenadine led the Taurian Guard in neutralizing this band of pirates. Some of them had retreated into an area known as the "Black Cliffs," a labyrinthine network of tall canyons that was impossible to scout with aerospace assets, and had to be flushed out by BattleMech forces.[2]
