History

The Provider 427 was a civilian Aqueduct-class tanker DropShip that had joined Aleksandr Kerensky's Exodus. During Operation REVIVAL, the Clan Invasion of the Inner Sphere some three centuries later, it was broken out of mothballs by Clan Jade Falcon.[1]

Attached to the Comitatus-class JumpShip Vanguard, the Provider served as a mobile refuelling and resupply base for ships mapping systems on the fringes of the invasion corridor, crewed by freeborns, disgraced or otherwise second-rate personnel.[1] It also carried two Locust IIC BattleMechs and their MechWarriors.

Arriving in the St. Jean system on 7 January 3050, the Provider was detached from the Vanguard and landed on the planet. Under Star Captain Amado Roshak, the forces it carried would occupy the St. Jean monastery of Franciscan monks[1] and turn it into a surface cargo storage facility.[2] The Jade Falcons also seized a partly disassembled recharge station and DropShip maintenance yard at the zenith jump point, operated by the monks by means of a pair of long-range shuttles. Clan Jade Falcon hoped to use St. Jean as a "watering hole" for their precariously thin supply lines between the Clan homeworlds and the Inner Sphere.[1]
