The Cameron-class battlecruiser SLS Saint Joan was a Star League Defense Force WarShip. The most infamous of the class, the Saint Joan was escorting convoys carrying personnel and supplies to SLDF units in the Rim Worlds Republic when it encountered six privateer vessels in November 2674. After it lost main power while attempting to defend its charges, the captain discovered that the ship's auxiliary power batteries could not provide life support and fire the weapons at the same time; the helpless Saint Joan was easily destroyed by a motley group of converted merchant vessels that should have posed no threat to a dedicated WarShip.[1][2]
The incident was said to have illustrated the design flaws of the Cameron class dramatically. It resulted in Cameron class battlecruisers being relegated to transport duties by the SLDF.[2]
