Saj Rahal was the commanding officer of the Sixth Marik Militia as of 3014.[1]
History
Colonel Rahal was stationed on Emris IV with the Sixth Marik Militia in 3014 when Anton Marik's Revolt plunged the Free Worlds League into civil war. Forewarned by the arrival of the retreating Ninth Marik Militia, Rahal's troops took up positions around the planet's primary StarCorps facility in the city of Ivanograd while the Militia's substantial aerospace assets prepared to fight off Anton's landing force. Despite these preparations, the combined might of the FWLS Falcon's Nest, two elite wings of traitor fighters, and the aerospace element of Wolf's Dragoons quickly cost the Sixth Militia orbital supremacy. The majority of Wolf's Dragoons made Rahal's defenses around Ivanograd their primary target but the next two weeks of fighting demonstrated the effectiveness of Rahal's men; in particular, the Assault 'Mechs of the Militia's Death Watch Brigade did much to stop the mercenaries from making any gains.[1]
The fatal blow to Rahal's defenders came when the Dragoons discovered an undefended drainage tunnel that, while not capable of granting the mercenaries access to the StarCorps facility itself, would allow them to surpass the Militia's defensive perimeter. A special force lead by Lieutenant Natasha Kerensky successfully broke through this tunnel and took Force Commander Ethan Epstein's battalion completely by surprise. As Epstein maneuvered to counter Kerensky's force, the main Dragoons assault took advantage of the growing gap in the Militia's lines and broke through before Rahal could deliver the Death Watch Brigade to help. While the Death Watch Brigade and Wilhelm's Fire Battalion retreated out of Ivanograd in good order, Epstein and his battalion died when their positions were overrun by the Dragoons' Alpha Regiment. When the Ninth Marik Militia lost their battle for the planet's capital, Rahal decided to abandon Emris IV and took the Sixth Militia to Sophie's World.[1]
Upon reaching Sophie's World, Rahal's Sixth Militia united with the First Atrean Dragoons and Head Hunters mercenary battalion in order to bog down the rebels' advance with prolonged fighting. Facing off against the Third Marik Militia and two regiments of Wolf's Dragoons, the fighting quickly achieved the loyalists' objective by locking three of Anton's key units in the battle for the planet. The fighting between Rahal's Sixth Militia and the rebel Third Militia was noted for being particularly brutal, with both sides offering no mercy to the other.[2]
The tides turned against the Sixth Militia and its allies once more when the Dragoons' Alpha Regiment arrived on Sophie's World in late 3014. The First Atrean Dragoons were quickly caught between the already-present mercenaries and the fresh Dragoons troops and were destroyed as a fighting unit after two ill-fated charges. Both Rahal's Militia and the mercenary Head Hunters decided to retreat rather than face off against a superior foe, ceding Sophie's World to Anton's rebels.[3]
