Tai-sho Anderson, commanding the Combine's attack on Hesperus II in 2836, was quickly defeated by the defending forces of the Lyran Commonwealth. In an effort to restore his honor, Anderson asked the Coordinator for permission to use nuclear weapons against the planet's primary manufacturing sites, but was turned down by the Coordinator's brother Zabu Kurita. When Anderson appeared before the Coordinator six weeks later, it was to atone for his failure thorough ritual suicide.
