Description

The Silverfin Coastal Cutter was developed at the dawn of the 24th Century. The cutter was designed for policing coastal waters and acting as a escort vessel for large naval vessels. However its ideal role is patrol missions & smuggler interception, not traditional combat, due to its weak armor.[1]

The designed was employed by all major Great Houses' with water-rich worlds. It also won the Editor's Choice award from Product Technologies Magainze's Hot Products of 3067 issue, outperforming competing vessels in acceleration and maneuverability while coming in second in overall handling.[2]

Armaments & Capabilities

The Silverfin's main weapon is the its navalized Magnum-Sperry Machine Gun mounted in front of the ship.[2] It also has two Short-Range two-tube Torpedo launchers for anti-submarine warfare placed in its bow turret. Both weapon systems are tied into the ship's Advanced Fire Control system. The ammunition bay located in the ship's hull carries a half ton of machine gun ammo and one ton of SRT-2 ammunition.[1]

The ship is lightly protected with Windancer Lightwave armor; while the ship required significant repairs after taking a full-powered shot from a Diverse Optics Type 10 laser, it suffered only a 2.3% loss in maneuverability and the vessel's structure remained sound. The ship's powerful hydrofoil-enhanced propulsion engine allows it to achieve speeds of 120 km/h when engaged in "Hydrofoil mode", increasing the Silverfin's survivability, while the foils themselves are uniquely durable thanks to a proprietary polymer blend.[2] Other features include two searchlights, mounted on the turret and bow of the ship, along with a lifeboat.

Cargo

The ship has a one-ton cargo capacity, normally used to hold crew supplies.[1]
