Description

The Simian is a Battle Armor suit that first appeared during the Dark Age era. The Simian's stooped posture and long forearms mimics that of many primates and it is thought its name comes from this similarity. The Simian is faster than many suits its size, and is known to sometimes use a quad gait for even more speed. This speed comes with the sacrifice of armor protection, and they are known to be easy to disable. The suit is also jump capable, able to cover 90 meters in a single leap. To make better use of available resources, Simian suits are equipped with Magnetic Battle Claws.

The simple nature of the design means it is easy to construct and this was useful after the creation of Fortress Republic. The Simian was sent out as part of Republic raiding parties, and since it had never been seen no one knew who produced it. This created confusion among the various intelligence services of the Inner Sphere.[2]

Weapons and Equipment

The Simian sports a Modular Weapon Mount on the right shoulder. This system typically holds a Small Laser, but other configurations include a Light Recoilless Rifle, Flamer, or Heavy Machine Gun. Usually the Simian doesn't mount advanced weaponry, instead choosing to use popular weaponry. Its arms are also used as effective melee weapons when engaging infantry. A small Searchlight was added as well, but this seems to be an afterthought.
