Description

The Toro Stables suffers from the start from money problems, with the team tottering on he edge of ruin. DiSanto, the stablemaster has publicy accused "a cabal of Davion stables" for the problems, accusations without proof.[1]

The stable is based in the northwest of Montenegro, where they use a warehouse and an empty field. Housing is provided by half a dozen trailers on site, and security is in charge of one of the many local gangs. While on site, everybody is armed and the rumors on the street spoke about booby-traps. Legend speaks on intruders disappearing without a trace.[2]

History

Toro Stables was established in 3082 but never has adapted well to the Solaris' brutal environment. Toro is trying to establish itself in Class Three, Four and Five as it only has two qualified class Six warriors.[1] The stable is chronically short of parts, and it is not that strange that weapons or other systems for one one 'Mech are moved to another. More than a few times, Toro has lost a match because of this jury-rigged repairs falling at the worst time. Toro doesn't have money to hire more techs, and DiSanto is weary of strangers he fears could be a Davion spy.[3]

Stable Master and Owners

  • Baron MacPhersion of Sterope is the owner of the stable, though he has never been seen. Even his existence cannot be confirmed.[1]

Notable Personnel

Instructors

  • Deacon Jablonski is the Stable's sole instructor, handling the four classes that Toro has (from Three to Six), adjusting his training to fit each pilot's ability and skills.[5][6].

Technicians

MechWarriors

In 3051 nine MechWarriors were fighting for Toro Stables.[1]

Known MechWarriors

MechWarrior Era Comments References
Kyp Duncan Dark Age [9]
Wendell Tastuma Dark Age [10]

Other

None.

Tactics and Style

Toro Stables lacks any tactic beyond the pilot's own preferences. They do not skew any arena and they can adapt to any one. They do hold nothing back against any Federated Suns-affiliated opponents, and more than a few matches have turned into bloody, brutal affairs.[11]

Notes

As of 3086, the Stable has D rating. The standard contract is for 400 C-Bills and a 15% of the earnings.[1]

Rules

Game Rules

With so many jury-rigging, it is not that strange that Toro 'Mechs suffer weapons malfunctions. The first time a Toro 'Mech fires a weapon in a match, roll 2D6. On a 8+, the weapon malfunctions. Use the Expanded Critical Damage rules (see p. 75, TO) to determine how the weapon is damaged. Otherwise the weapon will function normally for the rest of the match. [12]
