Title and Position tables[edit]
Hey Hiigara129,
Just so you know, I have reversed your edit on a couple of the House Marik characters. The Title and position tables within character articles are in the process of being retired in favor of a wikilink in the infobox. I know it is nice to have the info within the characters article but the wikicode to make them work is quite delicate and they break quite easily.--Dmon (talk) 18:17, 31 December 2022 (EST)
- Oh, OK. I thought it was because I didn't have the proper cites. So should I be editing the titles and positions into the wikilink infoboxs instead? --Hiigara129 (talk) 18:23, 31 December 2022 (EST)
- It is all down to the code. If you are willing to do citations on the Captain-General of the Free Worlds League article though it would be something off the to-do-list! --Dmon (talk) 18:29, 31 December 2022 (EST)
- Yeah sure. So would I be adding individual sources to each Captain-General, correct? Or do I need to do something special for the code to work? --Hiigara129 (talk) 18:53, 31 December 2022 (EST)
- Nothing special, just at the citation after the dates in the list.--Dmon (talk) 19:06, 31 December 2022 (EST)
- OK, got it. --Hiigara129 (talk) 23:00, 31 December 2022 (EST)
- OK, I've added in cites for each reign for the Captain-Generals. Just a heads up though, for a few of the cites I added in, when I attempt to duplicated it for a second line it either creates a separate cite or says this
"Invalid <ref> tag; no text was provided for refs named _(name of book)".
Not sure what I'm doing wrong, so a few cites need to be cleaned up/fixed. --Hiigara129 (talk) 01:01, 1 January 2023 (EST)- Fixed them citatations. The problem was only something small but virtually everybody makes (took me about a year to learn what the code did), first time you do a cite the text is something like
<ref name=NameCitation117>''House Marik'', p. 117</ref>
. second time if you add a slash before the second arrow it duplicates the cite for multiple uses. So it would be<ref name=NameCitation117/>
