Chaplain Leftenant Bill Kessler was a MechWarrior from the Federated Suns.[1]
History[edit]
Born into a long-serving MechWarrior family, as a devout Roman Catholic Bill Kessler would also continue his family's tradition of serving as chaplain in addition to his combat duties. By the era of the ilClan, Padre Bill would command a heavy recon lance in the First Crucis Lancers, the same unit his namesake great-grandfather served in, as well as performing religious rites, conducting worship services and providing confidential counselling both in and out of his 'Mech's cockpit.[1]
One of the many chaplains in the First Lancers, Bill Kessler would maintain a friendly rivalry with the others, most notably the New Avalon Catholic Church's resident chaplain Captain Orval Johns. Kessler and Johns both proudly sport numerous angelic victory markers on their 'Mechs signifying souls saved rather than lives taken.[1]
BattleMech[edit]
Chaplain Leftenant Bill Kessler would somehow acquire a QKD-9G Quickdraw, despite the distance from the Free Worlds League and its relative newness. Deflecting queries on how he did so claiming "the Lord works in mysterious ways", unit gossip suggests Bill chose the 'Mech purely because the 9G's combination of both a supercharger and MASC allows him to reach a soul in need as fast as possible.[1]

- The character of Bill Kessler is the in-universe version of the real world Father Bill Kessler, a actual practicing Roman Catholic priest and video game streamer whose played BattleTech and various MechWarrior video games over the decades. Canonised as part of the 2019 Clan Invasion crowdfunding campaign, Father Bill is a known MechWarrior Online streamer and was one of the notable attendees at Mech Con.
