The Bloodstart is a Clan Wolf ceremony performed by warriors in the Delta Galaxy.[1]
The Bloodstart is the initiation ceremony for the Galaxy's new warriors making their first confirmed kill. If circumstances allow, the warriors of the Cluster lead the initiate to the place where their enemy fell. First, the new warrior is shown the corpse of their foe. Next, a medic removes a small amount of blood from the corpse. The blood is then ceremoniously wiped across the brow of the warrior, after which they bury their foe. They must then find the slain warrior's next of kin and offer restitution. When the situation does not allow the warrior to bury their opponent, he must perform this honor for another fallen enemy.
The tradition serves to welcome the new warrior the Galaxy and to bring home to them the consequences of what they do.[1]
