Elton Rice was a former member of the Armed Forces of the Federated Commonwealth who became a mercenary commander for the Battle of Harlech.[1]

Rice's experience with the AFFC put him ahead of other independent mercenaries, which resulted in him commanding a reinforced lance of six BattleMechs. Originally hired by Waco Rangers to combat the Wolf's Dragoons, he became so disgusted by the extremes the Rangers went through prosecuting their vendetta that he abandoned the contract. The lance was last seen defending an office building that several thousand civilians were sheltering in. The defense cost the lives of several lance members, and all six ’Mechs[1]
