Major General Gilbert Dayan was the commander of the Star League Defense Force's 51st Jump Infantry Division as of 2764.[1]

A graduate of West Point Military Academy, Dayan was reputed to be a tough officer, and was under consideration in 2764 for promotion to the next open Army command. Recovering from injuries sustained during a terrorist attack by Capellan Confederation insurgents on Yuris, he continued to restrain his troops from excessive retaliation in the face of a continuing campaign of anti-SLDF bombings and sniper attacks.[1]
