James "Gentleman Jim" Stroud was the commanding officer of the Steel Guard in 3025.[1]

Colonel Stroud inherited command of the Steel Guard as he was a direct descendant of José Stroud, who pledged his family's mercenary command to the service of Captain-General Kenyon Marik. Jim Stroud proved himself to be a clever negotiator and tenacious packrat, hoarding any supplies or material that came his way.[1] Stroud and the Steel Guard were stationed on Kosciusko in 3025.[2]
