In September 3032, while serving in Winston's Scout Lance, Joe Don Hoe participated in the fighting between the Waco Rangers and Snord's Irregulars on Nockatunga. Hoe was part of a group of Ranger Scout 'Mechs, which located Snord 'Mechs within the city of Thule as they were trying to secretly recover a priceless collection of twenty-third century Demmings crystal, which Colonel Wayne Waco was using as bait to force an engagement with the Irregulars. Only one Waco Rangers 'Mech in Winston's unit managed to escape the Irregular's jamming and report the location of the force within Thule to the rest of the Rangers, with the remaining Rangers 'Mechs being seriously damaged.[1]
