Plot Summary[edit]
In the Balzan Mountains on the icy world of Xanthe III, Captain-General Duncan Marik has just ejected from his Orion as the BattleMech was just destroyed in combat with forces from the enemy Duchy of Andurien. Almost immediately, Marik is pinned down by an Andurien infantryman. A friendly Tenth Marik Militia Locust arrives and kills the enemy trooper, then prepares to take Marik aboard by lowering a ladder from the ventral hatch. However, the Locust is in turn attacked (implicitly, vanquished) by an enemy Warhammer that proceeds to kill Duncan Marik with its machine guns in short order, before he can even finish his attempt to surrender.
