Water is a relatively common liquid, and has been used since the dawn of civilization to douse fires. This still holds true in the Battletech universe.
When Cooling Fluid is unavailable, and Flame Retardant Foam is also unavailable, water can be used. Although it is not as effective as either of these specialized fluids for cooling down an overheating unit, or dousing fires.
It can be used to wash off Paint or Obscurants, which may be used in the arena's of Solaris VII. It can also be used as a riot control weapon when used in a Vehicular Flamer to help disperse crowds.
