William Clay was the Colonel commanding the 588th Alliance Jump Infantry Regiment in the Twenty-fifth Arcturan Guards.[1]

This character is an easter egg reference to the movie Die Hard, along with every other officer in the RCT aside from the Marshal. The main antagonist, Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman), used Bill Clay as an alias when he unexpectedly encountered the protagonist, John McClane (Bruce Willis).
