The Snapping Dragon is a carnivorous planet native to the world of Marduk.[1]
Description
The Snapping Dragon drapes its blue-gray tendrils across animal paths and water holes in jungles across the Inner Sphere. When animals wander by, the tendrils whip around the closest body part. Small thorns on the tendrils grip the prey while also releasing a sedative to subdue the animal. Then tendrils then drag the animal to the leaf-like throat, streaked with pink stripes, found on the ground where the animal is trapped and slowly digested.
The plant can be found on numerous worlds as Star League biologists exported the plant as a form of natural pest control. The plant can digest six to ten moderate sized animals each month. Their effectiveness can be shown on the world of Tabayama where they nearly drove the formerly prolific white tail deer population to extinction.[1]
