In September 3032, while still in this role, Samsun participated in the fighting between the Waco Rangers and Snord's Irregulars on Nockatunga. Samsun was part of a group of Rangers 'Mechs, including Colonel Wayne Waco, which were trapped by the Irregulars in the hills twelve kilometers from the city of Thule. The Rangers were defeated by the Irregulars in the ensuing battle, with Cranston Snord disabling Colonel Waco's 'Mech, though choosing to spare his life.[2]
