Eddie Katsumori was a member of the Sumiyama-kai, one of the yakuza gangs operating on Hachiman in the thirty-first century. By September 3056, Eddie was at least a chunin - subleader - within the Suriyama-kai in Masamori, the planetary capital city.[1]
In physical terms, Eddie was a giant among the local yakuza, wider and more heavily built than the average, with skin the color of Hachiman ebony and red hair the color of rust. Having reached the rank of chunin, Eddie was entitled to wear his hair in a samurai topknot, and was a common patron in the Kit Kat Klub, a yakuza bar and strip club; while he wasn't particularly high-ranking in the Sumiyama-kai at the time, he was the highest-ranking member to regularly patronise the Klub - effectively, the biggest fish in a small pond.[1]
As a part of her information-gathering efforts in Masamori Lieutenant Junior Grade Cassie "Abtakha" Suthorn of the mercenary Seventeenth Recon Regiment manipulated Eddie and another member of the local yakuza, Peter Malloy, to secure a position in the Kit Kat Klub. She went on to use that position to gather information and human intelligence for the Seventeenth.[1]
