The Gadfly is the smallest and lightest aerospace fighter ever produced by House Davion. Designed solely as an interceptor, it has seen limited use in a ground attack role.

Description[edit]
Generally deployed in oversize squadrons on worlds along the Capellan and Periphery borders, Gadflies use swarm tactics to overwhelm enemy fights and DropShips. Its battlefield endurance is limited.[1]
Weapons and Equipment[edit]
Tremendously fast and maneuverable, the craft is also noted for being finicky, described by one pilot with "a sneeze is enough to send the Gadfly into a loop". A surprising 2.5 tons of armor would normally make for a determined combatant but its pitiful fuel capacity forces pilots to limit combat encounters to as little as thirty seconds.
Two medium lasers in the nose produce so little heat that the craft can fire while at full thrust without serious issues.
As a ground attack fighter, the Gadfly can carry payloads that outweigh the craft, making it so ungainly that pilots have nicknamed it the Bumblebee for its appearance and its seeming defiance of the laws of physics.
Variants[edit]
None mentioned.
Canonicity[edit]
Stardate magazine is no longer considered a canonical source, making the Gadfly apocryphal.
