The Ericksson family was one of the original families of Scandinavian descent that settled Verthandi in the 25th century.[1]

The Ericksson family landhold, the Fox Island plantation located in Verthandi's Silvan Basin, had been owned by the Ericksson family since the first days of colonization. It served as the hidden headquarters for the largest rebel force in the area.[1]

- In the Mercenary's Star (novel), Gunnar Ericksson tells Grayson Carlyle it was his grandfather that founded of the Ericksson family's AgroMech business, Ericksson-Agro.[1] In the next chapter the story notes it was Gunnar's great-grandfather, Olaf Ericksson, who established the company.[2]
