The imp was a ferocious and tenacious predator species native to the jungles of Eden; Nicholas Kerensky suggested the name for the first original BattleMech (the Imp) produced by the Star League in Exile, as he felt that the organization needed a totem around which its soldiers could rally.
Ironically, the animal was hunted to its extinction by the genetically engineered smoke jaguar species after their introduction on Eden.[1][2]
