History
Prior to the Fourth Succession War, Winfield was the commander of the light fighters of the Second Capellan Hussars, whose record 38 kills in a single year made him feared along the Federated Suns border. As one of the most experienced and decorated aerospace fighter pilots in service the House Liao, his success was treated as a godsend by the good news starved Liao military. He was therefore rushed back to Sian for a public relations tour, before being put in charge of the Sian Aerospace Training Command as the leader of the 14th Sian Air Defense Squadron.[1]
On the commencement of the Fourth Succession War he was returned to frontline duty, but despite being quite successful during the conflict, was one of the Liao officers demoted for their supposed "failures" during the war. This demotion was however still somewhat of a blessing, given that many in similar situations were instead purged, and allowed him to continue serving loyally despite his undeserved punishment.
This loyal service led to his worth being recognized by Chancellor Romano Liao, who returned him to command of his own squadron in time for the Andurien invasion in 3030. Winfield used this opportunity to good effect, proving the wisdom of the Chancellor decision, resulting in him ultimately regaining his previous rank.[2]
Vehicle
Winfield was known to pilot a Thrush light aerospace fighter.[1][2]
