Map Set #2 was first published in 1988 with four cardboard maps, a map of the Inner Sphere and four plastic paper clips. It was republished in 1989 with six cardboard maps as a shared product with FASA's Renegade Legion game. The map set was again republished in 1991, 1993 and 1995 with eight paper maps and two different covers. A German-language edition was published in 1990 as GeoTech and in 1993 with additional maps as GeoTech I. A Finnish-language edition with six maps was published in 1992 as Karttasetti 1.

- The original 1988 printing included four 17" x 22" cardboard maps with blank hex maps on the other side:
- Scattered Woods
- City Ruins
- Desert Hills
- Mountain Lake
- A paper map of the Inner Sphere (not included in the 1989 reprinting and onwards)
- Four plastic paper clips (not included in the 1989 reprinting and onwards)
- The 1989 reprinting included two additional cardboard maps:
- BattleTech
- CityTech
- Later reprintings were printed on paper and added two more maps:
- River Valley
- Lake Area
