Description

The Merkava is an ancient Heavy Battle Tank that started its service life with the Terran Alliance. First produced in 2294 by Leopard Armor of Terra, the tank was deployed as a front line battle tank during the Age of War. The tank gained a kind of symbolic status during its service in the Terran Hegemony and had seen multiple revisions of its basic design. It was considered obsolete and production discontinued in 2465.

Deployment

The tank produced the Terran Alliance, Terran Hegemony until just before the formation of the Star League. It was retired from frontline service to Hegemony Militias until the start of the Succession Wars, where it had been cannibalized.

After the discovery of the Hegemony Memory Core, the tank was revised due to its simply construction during the first half of the Jihad. Earthwerks Incorporated in Principality of Regulus created makeshift factories to produce new version of the tank on Tiber. Regulus government having deployed the tank in large numbers to the Regulan Hussars by 3073.

Armaments & Capacities

All the Merkava's weaponry in mounted in its turret. The tank's long-range weaponry include 15-tube Long Range Missile Launcher with with 16 volleys worth fire. Tank's main gun is a Class 5 Autocannon, which was given 20 rounds to feed it. For short-range defense, it has a single 4-tubed Short Range Missile Launcher with 25 volleys to feed it. For anti-infantry work, tank has pair machine guns, one mounted on the turret, while other in front of the tank. 100 rounds of ammunition is placed with the rest in main body of the tank.

The VIII variant, mounts 300 Rated Fusion Engine (w/10 heat sinks), giving the tank respective speed of 64 kph for its time period. Protecting the tank's hull, 10 tons of Standard armor which is evenly layed out through the tank, with added few tons in the turret.

Variants

• Merkava Mk. VI - The Mark VI was the last of the Internal Combustion Engine variants of the Merkavas. The tank has proximatly the same weaponry as Mk. VII, however uncertain exactly it had. A remote-control version of the tank was produced, removing LRM launcher and was used test against the prototype Mackie BattleMech. BV (2.0) = ?

• Merkava Mk. VII - The Mark VII mounts a Primitive Fusion Engine, which gave the tank top speed of 54 kph. It was protected by primitive armor, The Tank slightly differs from Mark VIII version by having LRM 10 launcher, and SRM 2 launcher. BV (2.0) = ?

• Merkava Mk. IX - The Mark IX is Principality of Regulus's modern version of the Merkava. The Tank mounts a Light Fusion Engine, allows for the installation of Light Gauss Rifle in the turret, giving it 32 rounds of ammo. The Tank's SRM 4 is upgraded to a Streak. It retains the speed and armor protection of the VIII. BV (2.0) = 1,038, Cost = 9,235,625 C-Bills.

Notes

• Earlier version of the Merkava are not listed in detail as of this writing. The IX version of the tank only appears in the Unabridged Record Sheet book for 3075.
