Searchlight is illumination piece of equipment comes in broad range of sizes. They can be used as a either handheld devices up to large Mounted Searchlights that can illuminate kilometers of space head of itself.

Description

These are large and powerful energy based devices that can be used to illuminate either nighttime conditions or bad weather to allow for better modifiers to hit designate targets.

Game Rules

Normal Game Play

In normal Total Warfare rules, the Searchlight does not have any effect in game play.[1]

Advanced Game Play

When using Advanced Rules found in Tactical Operations, the in scenarios which have bad weather or has night time conditions. Players may mount these devices on 'Mechs or Vehicles. These devices can be either small hand-held searchlights or mounted searchlights. However, only Mounted Searchlights maybe be designated which 'mech or vehicle will receive a one these devices. When in use, these depending on conditions being use in, these searchlights will remove or reduce penalties for the unit is firing. However, these searchlights will also remove penalties a attacker has firing on same unit.

These searchlights maybe turn on or off in End Phase of the game.

When taking damage in either physical or weapon phase; a section that had noted mounted or hand-held search light, a player must roll 2D6 to if the searchlight has been destroyed. On result on 7 more greater, the light is destroyed.

Handheld Searchlight - Has the range of 10 hexes. Player cannot design which units have Hand-held devices. They maybe mounted in either forward or back arcs on either torso or front or sides of the vehicle.

Mounted Seachlight - Have the range of 30 hexes. A player may choose what controlling unit on their side may mount these and which arch they will be facing.[2]

Construction Rules

When hand-held searchlights are considered to be already incorporated into construction of any vehicle with exception of Combat Vehicles & BattleMechs. Three of these handle-held searchlights present these designs with two mounted in the front and one in the back. These can be considered reflect of cosmetic addition to a vehicles from strobe lights, headlights, taillights and other commonly found light figures on these respective vehicles.

Combat Vehicles & BattleMechs may have a Mounted Searchlight incorporated into their design as option to the designer with no additional cost in weight, slots or C-Bill.

In addition searchlights desired to be added to their unit in its construction. A players must follow the standard core construction rules for its respective design.[3]
