Description

Designed as an independently operating transport for a scout Battalion, the Seeker-class DropShip is one of the fastest designs operating in the Inner Sphere.

The Seekers massively powerful Quad RanTech Fusion Drive, accounting for almost a third of the craft's mass, is a large reason for its success and popularity. The drive system is also the model of redundancy, consisting of four small fusion reactors which are independently operated and shielded, so engineers can work on a reactor without shutting down the entire drive system, with the Seeker capable of operated on two reactors for an extended period and one in an emergency.

Benefiting its role a deep forward reconnaissance craft, the Seeker features fairly luxurious crew and passenger quarters, at least by military standards, and an extensive medical facility adequate to handle most emergencies to promote and maintain morale on length missions. To enhance its role, the design also carries enough parts, food and water to allow the Seeker to operate for up to four months without resupply.

Armament

Relying more upon speed to enter and flee hostile territory, the Seekers reasonably light weapons array is geared towards lengthy independent operation, dominated by energy weapons. The nose bare, its forward facing armaments consider of just two PPCs, one each side, while the aft quarters each feature a LRM-10 and Large Laser paired with twin Medium Lasers on each side, repeating the laser trio directly aft.

Cargo

The Seeker is well known for its unique reconfigurable cargo bays. Normally capable of carrying 64 light vehicles and four platoons of infantry, it is not unusual to see some Seekers with only 48 vehicles to save space for a Lance of BattleMechs or even a pair of AeroSpace Fighters, albeit not as effectively as dedicated 'Mech or fighter bays.
