Steiner, who was not related to the Lyran Commonwealth ruling House Steiner, was known to object violently if anyone persisted in asking about the association.
The first action of his nearly forty year service career was against a Lyran raid in 3007, when he shot down a pair of Lucifer medium aerospace fighters. It was not known when Steiner would retire, but he himself reportedly expected not to do so until 3067.[1]

Steiner was known to have commanded a single Partisan heavy tank over his career, named Xerxes.[1]
