Admiral Taro Marrkgrae was the commanding officer of the Star League Defense Force Fifth Fleet from 2759 to at least 2776.[1][2][3]

History

Early Career

Born on Nirasaki in the Terran Hegemony, Marrkgrae attended the Fleet School of Keid, before spending most of his early career in the First Fleet and the Second Fleet.[1]

42nd Escort Squadron

He later rose to command the 42nd Escort Squadron within the Fourth Fleet, with whom he showed an uncanny ability to have his unit appear right when they were most needed, allowing them to thwart 84 bandit raids over a 6 year period.[1]

Fifth Fleet

Being assigned command on the Fifth Fleet on the back of his success in 2759, Marrkgrae made the SLS Duke of York his flagship.[1] He remained in this role during the Amaris Civil War, helping to secure the world of Nanking in 2773, by winning two major fleet battles during the initial invasion as well as following a Rim Worlds Republic counter-attack.[2]

In 2776 Marrkgrae and his Fifth Fleet were assigned a reserve force for Fourth Fleet's assault on the Pollux systems Zenith jump point, and following the success of which, led his own assault on the Nadir jump point.[3] Within 6 weeks of this action, Marrkgrae moved on to another successful assault on Graham IV.[4] By 26 July 2776, had taken overall command of both Fourth and Fifth Fleets, as they cleared the Caph system of enemy forces.[5]
