This is a place for me to park other projects on the back burner.

Cultural Stuff

I understand it is a combat game, but with the RPG and novels and just general interest, there seems to be some value in doing more to address the culture--civilian as well as military--across the Human Sphere. I have taken a swipe at this with the Book Publishers and the slow-moving Media stuff, but there isn't a proper framework for it all.

So, beginnings of task list here:

• Find others who share my interest in fleshing out the culture of Human Space, to the extent that sources exist.
• Park a list of categories and specific pages around here in my userspace toward that goal.
• What would the portal/hub for this look like?
• How to subdivide it. Tough one. Some of the cultural stuff has been deeply explored: the Clan Warrior rituals and customs, the Draconis Combine's Japanese Renaissance (my term, my term!). The Magistracy of Canopus gets...oh god here we go with the catgirls again. OK, so some things will need to be put in careful, well-referenced context. That doesn't have to be first on the list, either.
• Identify fiction that delves into culture outside of what is already documented here. Example: Diana Pryde fought one of her Bloodright Trials in a cavern that was considered a tourist attraction by the lower castes. That's a glimpse into lower-caste culture that we don't get a lot of. Is that anywhere here on the Wiki?
• Accept gracefully that this is a long haul project. Not a week, not a month, not a year. Set achievable goals and milestones that can stand on their own merits. The Orphanage is small change compared to this.

Body Mods

OK, Talvin, accept it: eventually the whole "Canopian Catgirl" thing is going to land on Sarna. Later rather than sooner, and hopefully somebody sensible gets there ahead of you, but for your sins you are the Usual Suspect for that sort of thing. Let's just start parking some resources for documentable background and context.
