Warner Doles was a contributor to several BattleTech sourcebooks including Dawn of the Jihad and Jihad Hot Spots: 3070, and a former web moderator of a previous incarnation of the official BattleTech forums.
Canonization
The character Warner Doles was named after Doles as the result of a charity auction to have the winner's name canonized in BattleTech fiction:
“ | Yes sir. That would be me. And to explain, I won a charity auction to have my name or any name I wanted to be used in the novel. Then it turned into the two novels and ended up in the source book. I had no idea what was going to happen until you all did. That's the truth.[1] | ” |
