The officer of the [[Magistracy of Canopus]] army, Lieutenant Maeve Geans, prepares herself for a mission. His unit was to raid the [[Marian Hegemony]] world of Pompey. She informs her recon lance and they moved. Eventually, they had to get into the city, were they found Marian opposition. Her unit secured the way for the main body, but quickly they found heavy opposition, but quickly began suffering losses. Even Maeve's 'Mech was downed, and she barely had time to get out before being crushed. She reunites with another member of her lance and they hid, awaiting for rescue.
