On the village of Silvan Basin, in the planet of Verthandi in 3023, Abel Tapper, a young AgroMech pilot, is forced to assist to the execution of his village's major, Wade Larsen, by a [[Draconis Combine]] trooper. Gathered by the Draconis militia, after a farmer resisted, a ''Dervish'' BattleMech destroys his house, and any captive which attempted to escape is gunned. So when a group of rebels attacked the Kuritans, and the Locust switched sides, Abel saw his opportunity, escaping and running to his AgroMech.
