As of ca. 3025, Abel Karmak had been awarded a "barony" and a Banshee BattleMech by his liege, the pirate Redjack Ryan; as such, the title was considered questionable to the point where ComStar only mentioned it in quotation marks.[1]
Although he was considered a notable Banshee pilot in his time,[1] Karmak reportedly hated the 'Mech, feeling it was an outclassed design. He fervently wished to obtain a "real" 'Mech to further his MechWarrior ambitions and perhaps one day replace Redjack Ryan as bandit king. In the meantime, he was cautions (though described as a realist, not a coward) and deployed the assault 'Mech with caution. He would hang back from the heaviest fighting during the occasional water raid against the Draconis Combine that he took place in, and otherwise mostly used the imposing 'Mech to terrorize his subjects.[1]
