Groto was once a MechWarrior later turned farmer in the Periphery.

History[edit]

Groto was very reserved about his past, but for the few he said, it was obvious than he was a former DCMS soldier, member of a family which once had fought for the Star League, with soldiers for ten generations. After a long service, when he was old, he retired and, seeking peace, left for the Deep Periphery, settling as farmer in the planet Roskan. He used his family 'Mech, Tomoe as a farming tool, to cut trees. He hada quiet life on a quiet planet for several years. Nobody knew who he was, or didn't care.[1] But that changed the 20 May 3049, when he was drinking beer in a bar on Cordoba City. When the Colonial Authority Broadcast System gave the alter, he knew than his tranquility had ended.[2] Gorton joined the planetary militia, all composed by amateurs. His 'Mech was the only one. A day later, Gorton, piloting Tomoe. He asked a militia kid to bring him some vodka, which the young, reluctantly, did. When the Militia saw the invaders approaching, Gorton realized they had high-tech 'Mechs, and they were no pirates. His leader identified himself as Star Captain Rao, of Clan Goliath Scorpion. the clanners wanted to do a batchall to claim the planet and its people. The militia leader agreed to decide it in a fight, a single 'Mech against another. Roskon defender would be Gorton with his 'Mech. The 22 May, Gorton fought the trial in a place called Agrippa Lake. His opponent, the female MechWarrior Ketelle, piloted a Hellbringer. She charged him fast, but Tomoe narrowed avoided her first strike, but not the second. Then Gorton charged at his turn. Ketelle was furious by Gorton's turning of a BattleMech into a ferestry 'Mech. He exploited his superior knowledge of the terrain, but was wounded. However, Gorton managed to get the 'Mech up again, and returned fire to Ketelle. He was on the brink of defeat, but managed to began an avalanche of logs, which fe3ll over her 'Mech. Gorton, then, fired at her 'mech's legs, downing it. After the victory, Gorton was offered her 'Mech and Ketelle as bondsman, but he refused both: he didn't want more 'Mechs or wars on his home. The 7 June, he was on the same bar of Cordoba City, drinking again, considering if to put again Tomoes original arm, to make it a war machine again, but eventually he decided against don't doing it.[3]

BattleMech/Vehicle[edit]

Groto's only 'Mech was Tomoe, a Black Knight, with his left arm replaced by a saw.[4]
