The Green Kestrel was a Peregrine-class corvette built by Clan Jade Falcon. In 3001 the Jade Falcon Star Colonel Zachary Zywot took the Green Kestrel to Arcadia as the center of a task force to launch a Trial of Possession against forces from Clan Blood Spirit for five tons of Arcadian Russets. The commander of the Blood Spirit fortress targeted by the Trial bid their fortress and all of its forces in defense, while Zywot declared the Green Kestrel and all the forces aboard in response. After an initial duel between the aerospace fighters each side possessed, the Green Kestrel used orbital bombardment to force the Blood Spirit Trinary on the ground out of their prepared positions in response to the Spirits attempting to engage the Jade Falcon ground troops with artillery. The Jade Falcon ground forces forced the Spirits to concede, and the Spirits conceded the five tons of Russets and their disgraced commander to the Falcons.[1]
The Green Kestrel was the most active and well-known ship of the Peregrine class, both for the Trials the ship engaged in but also the role it played in exploring new systems for the Jade Falcons. It was the Green Kestrel that was responsible for discovering the Hazen system, home to a short-lived mining colony and a notable victory over Clan Steel Viper. For five years, the Green Falcon supported the establishment of the mining colony, which would then spend eight years mining a major vanadium vein. After eight years of operations the vanadium vein was exhausted, and the Falcons were in the process of abandoning the colony when Clan Steel Viper bid for control of the system, fighting a two-part Trial against the Green Kestrel and attached Jade Falcon forces. The Green Kestrel secured a shipment of aluminum for the Falcons, while leaving the Steel Vipers in control of a worthless system.[1]
