Jedidiah Johansson was a young boy who enlisted in the Waco Rangers to make a future for himself.
History[edit]
Jedidiah was born on the planet Satalice, growing up in the town of Johansson's Station. After his mother died from a fever in 3015, he was left alone with his father. In 3029, the planet was invaded by two mercenary units working for the Lyran Commonwealth. As life on the planet was hard, Jedidiah enlisted in one of these, which was recruiting new personnel.
On 2 September, Jedidiah left his home, saying goodbye to his father. He took a train to their destination, and onboard he met one of his neighbor, and friends, Roderick Johnson. Roderick was also enlisting in the same unit, but as a technician. Jed soon fell asleep in his seat.[1]
During the trip, the train suffers an accident, and Jed awakes to chaos, with Roderick tugging at him. Quickly, he gets out of the train thanks to Roderick's help. The explosions they hear indicated to Jed that it wasn't an accident an all, but an attack by the Kuritans against the mercenaries' new recruits. Luckily for both friends, they were already at their destination, and they were picked up by the man who awaits them, Sergeant Reynolds, who orders them to get into his truck and welcomes them into their new family, The Waco Rangers.
Shortly after, the truck stops into the Rangers FOB... but they found it under attack of the Kuritans also: from an observation post, they saw Snake BattleMechs attacking the perimeter near the three, and the defenders were too few to stop the Kuritans to breach the perimeter.
When the Rangers' sentinels mobilized, the tide begins to turn, but then saw Kuritan infantry entering the base. A grenade detonation makes Jed fall, awakening with a Kuritan soldier pointing him with his weapon, but before he can shoot him, the Sergeant kills him. Reynolds orders the young soldier to follow him. Jed tries to get Roderick up... but he uncovers than is too late: the grenade had killed him.[1]
Jed vomited, but the sergeant didn't leave him a respite. Without choice, Jedidiah takes the weapons and ammo of the killed Kuritan and follows the sergeant through the base, killing some enemies. Soon, the Rangers 'Mechs were already pushing back the attackers, forcing them to retreat and Jed and the sergeant finds themselves safely.
Reynolds congratulates Jed for his actions, and they went to see a medic and check him, while the young thinks about how had been his first day in his new job.[1]
