Johnny Mace was the commander of Bravo Battalion of the Gryphons.[2]
History[edit]
In July 3028 Johnny Mace was an inexperienced freelance mercenary MechWarrior known more for his womanizing and patchouli stench than his battlefield skills. His agent, Mr. Morris of Leech Contractors and Negotiators secured contract IND 27-1208-03D for him. A pirate defense contract on the Lyran Commonwealth's periphery border world of Here that had been languishing unfulfilled since 8 December 3027 due to undesirable terms.[3] Due to Mace's Poor quality rating he only qualified for 65% of base remuneration on this already poor contract[4] Because of his inexperience and naiveté Mace took the contract, despite the knowledge he would face a pirate unit fielding a PNT-9R Panther, WTH-1 Whitworth, and GHR-5H Grasshopper among others.[1]
Somehow, he survived that contract and life eventually took him to Shiloh. There he would end up imprisoned and sentenced to a forced labor camp, ending his mercenary career. While serving his sentence he converted to the Exituri faith and volunteered to serve as the part of the planet's manpower tribute to the Gryphons. Mace thrived there, aided by his newfound dedication and rose to command Bravo Battalion.[2]
