Kevin Jessup was a Lyran Commonwealth officer during the Clan Invasion.

History[edit]

In 3051 Kevin Jessup was an officer in the 26th Lyran Guards, commanding the First Company of the Second Battalion.

When Tamar was invaded by Clan Wolf in November 3051, Hauptmann Jessup and his unit were trapped outside the walls of Tamar City. After the death of the commanding officer of Second Battalion, Hauptmann Jessup — until then considered a competent but unremarkable MechWarrior — assumed command, issuing a single order: "Stand and deliver." Second Battalion would hold its position, allowing the rest of the Guards to withdraw in good order, before retreating themselves. Three weeks later on Kobe, Second Battalion under Jessup would be cited for commendation as a major factor in the survival of the entire regiment. Jessup would be forced to retire after suffering injuries during the fighting on Thurn, despite his impressive combat record: In an unmodified family-owned QKD-4G Quickdraw, Hauptmann Jessup had seven confirmed Clan Omnimech kills in just one month, across three separate battlefields.[1]

Retirement[edit]

After his forced retirement, the aged Jessup's whereabouts were unknown; WolfNet believed, as of a report dated 22 March 3058, that he took up a teaching position with a minor military academy somewhere in Lyran space.[1]

PEn-NAM raid[edit]

A lance of unregistered mercenaries led by the overconfident Tatiana Himmel hired on with a group of pirates for a raid against the PEn-NAM space habitat in the Viborg system, masterminded by captain Anton Kaiman of the JumpShip Sanibel and carried out in May of 3057. Overall, the raid was a success, but of Himmel's lance only one MechWarrior named Jessup (first name not mentioned), an old man with a gray stubble beard piloting an antiquated QKD-4G Quickdraw, made it back to the DropShip. Kaiman was well impressed with Jessup's skill and professionalism, noting that being fast and smart is how he got to be an old man in an antiquated 'Mech; he ordered Jessup be given a bonus and be told who he was really working for, with the implication that Kaiman was going to recruit him.[2] Although his first name is not given, it is strongly implied from the context[3] that this mercenary was in fact Kevin Jessup.
