Dr. Melir Radis was, as of 3150, a scientist at Chapineria University, specializing in hyperspace and spacetime research.[1]

Radis's work focused on Black Boxes. After Radis received a redirected Federated Suns military message in 3143 and handed it over to the Draconis Combine Internal Security Force, this research, now thoroughly funded by the Combine, focused in particular on the redirected, garbled, and de-encrypted messages that increasingly plagued Black Box users by the late 3140s. Seven years of quiet research led to a paper laying out his theory of why these errors occurred: Black Boxes creating ripples and waves across their limited hyperspace frequency, interfering with each other and making the transmission of any message a gamble.[1]
A month after the release of his paper, Radis's work was covered in the 3150 inaugural issue of Spacetime Discovery, in an article written by Dr. Beatrice Harper.[1]
