As of 3150 Rivers was the longest serving Roadrunner pilot in the RAF who had repeatedly turned down offers to pilot other BattleMechs, claiming anything else "felt too slow." During the 3134 Republic Civil War Rivers was tasked with hunting down fleeing Senate loyalists, and in one engagement he managed to down a Night Stalker by utilizing his greater maneuverability. He later became a training instructor and was routinely sent on temporary duty to train RAF scouts. He was an outspoken proponent of converting the Roadrunner into an OmniMech allowing for a more versatile mission profile[1]
