Major Steve Gray was a mercenary officer with the Eridani Light Horse during the early thirty-first century.[1][2]

Battle for Hoff[edit]
As of 3023 Gray commanded the 11th Recon Battalion ("Alley Cats"), and its Battalion Command Lance ("Gray's Bodyguards"), of the 71st Light Horse Regiment.
In this role, during April and May 3023, Gray participated in the 6 week campaign of the Battle of Hoff. Together with four battalions of the Eridani Light Horse, under contract to the Federated Suns, he helped defend a cadre of scientists from raiders fighting for the Draconis Combine, including Wolf's Dragoons.[3]
During this fighting Gray's 'Mech suffered a direct hit to the head, burning most of his body, and destroying his right arm and leg.[1]
Return to Command[edit]
After his injuries, Gray received bionic limbs which while not completely effective, allowed him to return to service as a MechWarrior after two years of recovery. By 3025, he had therefore returned to command of his battalion, and was looking for occasions to avenge his wounds.[1]
BattleMech[edit]
Gray was known to pilot a Valkyrie BattleMech.[2]
