Major General Tanner Hansen was the commander of the Star League Defense Force's 54th Mechanized Infantry Division as of 2764.[1]

Hansen believed simplicity make better soldiers by removing distractions, and therefore enforced a highly spartan lifestyle on this troops. Members of the 54th Mechanized Infantry Division were only allowed a tiny amount of personal effects, received meals designed to merely meet nutritional guidelines, and were not allowed to consume any media. His harsh approach caused many troops to seek transfers after a few years of service, but a core membership came to enjoy it, closing ranks against outsiders who intruded.
Star League Intelligence Command suspected this frugal façade might be hiding an active black market, but had as of 2764 had not managed to identify any such illicit operations.[1]
